Mount Carmel Church, Mariyapuram is close to its centenary celebration. In a few years it will be completing hundred years of life and activities. On this Occasion we gratefully remember and acknowledge the works of the Belgium OCD fathers and ICM Sisters who were pioneers of this mission. They worked hard to build up a Christian Community and the Church. They contributed greatly to the Socio-Economic and educational growth of the people of this Parish. Today the Catholic Community consists of more than three thousand people. This Parish is blessed, with many vocations to priesthood and religious life. From this parish hail three Priests, One deacon and seven sisters besides a few seminarians. The Parish Church built by religious Fathers is too small to contain these many numbers of people. In spite of having three masses on Sundays, people find no place inside the church. As a solution to the problem a new church is proposed. The people are economically and educationally very poor. We are working hard to make the dream a reality. We appeal to the people of good will to join us in this effort. May Lord reward you greatly for your generosity.
